In the early 1970s, the French sinologist and situationist René Viénet bought the rights to the kung fu film Crush (Tu Guangqi, 1972). Using creative dialogue, he transformed it into a burlesque comedy about stupid French Maoists and clever anarcho-syndicalists. La dialectique peut-elle casser des briques? disappeared from circulation for a long time and only existed as a vaguely remembered avant-garde myth until Viénet himself worked on the digital restoration, and even made a new version with digital rotoscopy.
